Christmas is a time for fun, presents, yuletide cheer and family. But it is also a time when many people try to think of the needs of others, either in their own community or further afield. In December, Fantastic Services held a Christmas Charity Bazaar to raise money for an incubator and a thermal bed, for new-born babies in a maternity ward. The ward is in a hospital in Varna, Bulgaria. This year we spent a lot of time fundraising for great charitable causes in the UK and thought that in the spirit of Christmas, we would spread the festive cheer a little bit further and go over the sea to Bulgaria. The event was a massive success and raised a sizeable amount, with all money raised going straight to the hospital.
Christmas is a time for giving, so there was no better time to organise an event like it. Homemade gifts are a great way to raise funds for charity as each of them contain a little bit of hand made love. There were stalls piled high with lovingly hand-crafted gifts and decorations. The event was laden with Christmas cookies, candy, cakes, home-made lemonade, handmade greeting cards, Christmas tree baubles, cosmetics and even handmade jewellery. It was a great way to warm the heart and forget about the cold weather outside. It had us wishing that it could be Christmas every day!
Raising money for organisations like this has a fantastic impact on generations to come. Giving to great causes like this means that this Christmas together with those that supported the event, we gave the gift of life. We think everyone deserves a fantastic Christmas and what better way than to bring a bit of hope and joy into the New Year.
