Autumn is slowly ticking away, setting up the stage to the freezing, yet drizzly English winter. And you simply have to love London when it’s cold outside. Trapped between a grey, cloudy landscape and a vibrant carpet of reddish-brown leaves, the capital is ready to reveal its melancholic charm to anyone who is willing to spare a few seconds to appreciate their surroundings. And today, we would like to introduce you to Ventsislav – a person whose job is to turn clusters of hopelessly entangled plants into exquisite works of art.
Ventsislav has been rolling with Fantastic Services for a whole five years now and has mastered the ins and outs of the landscaping art. A fact that all of London’s gardens have happily welcomed as they are ceaselessly craving for attention even now – at a time when nature seeks to selfishly send all leaves and stems back into the earth, only to release them once more come next spring.
We approached Ventsislav with several questions about his past, present, and future with Fantastic Services:
I arrived in Great Britain with the ambitious intention of becoming a franchisee. A friend of mine, who at the time was already working with the company, talked in great detail about the good working conditions that the partners there enjoy. Naturally, I became interested in the idea of doing gardening for a living and decided to move to London. Alas, my first several attempts proved to be unsuccessful – I was told that I lack the necessary qualifications and was instead offered to be a part of a separate gardening team.
Taking the scenic route, I sided with another business partner to build up experience and enough motivation to finally reapply a few years later and establish my own crew. Now, I lead a team of three gardeners and we specialise in landscaping –- a delicate job that requires surgical precision and extreme attention to detail. At the moment, only one of the specialists is able to help me out, since winter is generous to us gardeners and we usually have more time to rest and spend it with our families.
We also asked Ventsislav to describe the “fantastic” things about his job:
It’s fair to say that the profession has many interesting things to offer. For starters, each day gives us the chance to meet new and interesting people, each with their distinct personalities and traits. I’ve also managed to gather a lot of expertise by working shoulder to shoulder with a responsible team. Finally, what I find truly fantastic about the company is that it gives you the opportunity to create a certain type of positive work atmosphere, the likes of which I have never experienced before.
In case you have a few extra moments to spare, I’d like to share with you an emotional moment that I’ve recently had with a regular client of mine. A disabled war veteran, this person was more on the conservative side of the fence. But gardening always used to be his passion. And now that he couldn’t pamper his green space on his own any longer, he needed our help. As we went on to visit him on a weekly basis, we could see the sheer appreciation in his eyes that we were there for him in times of need, that we had his back. All went well until we arrived on a particularly gloomy day at the usual time only to be greeted by his daughter, who told us that the good old man had passed away. She shared with us that, whenever he was supposed to greet us at the gate, he always waited by the window with a look of deep impatience and enthusiasm. It was, without a doubt, the most beautiful garden I’ve ever seen in my life and it was a pleasure to work for such a genuine person.
A practical tip I would like to give to the current and future partners of Fantastic Services is to do their job by the book and to put in the extra effort to make their clients happy. It may sound like a cliché, but what goes around does come around, both in terms of rewards and your personal satisfaction.
Lastly, Ventsislav shared a few details about his personal life:
My daily routine has recently become more packed with various responsibilities which, to be honest, is a common trait of every team leader that I know of. To balance things out, I have taken up several sporting activities alongside casual jogging to help me get my mind off things. However, I am happy to say I feel effective enough to overcome the hurdles that my demanding job sometimes likes to present me with.
Fantastic Services would like to thank Ventsislav for his hard work and for finding the time to make this interview happen.
