We will soon say goodbye to the month of love as we venture into March. There are plenty of events for you to attend during the entire month, with two of the most notable being the Chester food, drink and lifestyle festival and the Manchester Irish festival. When and where to expect these celebrations?
Manchester Irish Festival
The festival will take place from Friday 4th March – Sunday 20th March. The St. Patrick’s Parade will be held on Sunday 13th March and the main celebration on Thursday 17th March.
For more than a half month you will witness all kinds of events that include music, karaoke, dancing, art, games and many other.
The Chester Food Drink & Lifestyle Festival
The event will occur at Chester Racecourse from March 26-28 and will be headlined on each day by Simon Rimmer, Gregg Wallace and Andrew Nutter. The event features a great line-up of food celebrities and chefs that will cook delicious local dishes. This is the largest festival of its type in the UK at Easter.
The chefs are complimented by more than 150 food and drink producers who occupy the centre of the racecourse with huge inside and outside areas and lots of seating.
Organisers expect 30,000 attendants this year, according to principal organiser Stephen Wundke who said: “Our event has just grown and grown over the years and it is wonderful to see so many families out having a brilliant day enjoying food and drink together.”
Expect the return of Artfest with more than 40 artists and galleries displaying a huge array of visual art and free daily seminars from artists.
Don’t forget the CH1 Chester BID Sous Chef Challenge. This is a chance for chefs from Chester, below the level of head chef, to compete and be judged on the stage at the festival by Masterchef supremo Gregg Wallace.
The annual sausage competition allows butchers from across the region compete to be crowned the Taste Cheshire Sausage of the Festival with the winner going on to compete for the UK Champion of Champions title in October.
