So if you:

  • want to clean your patio or balcony professionally and you’re wondering if hiring someone is the right thing;
  • want to know how to calculate the square footage of the area;
  • want to know how much a professional pressure washing costs.

Then, this pressure washing pricing guide is just for you!

How much does pressure washing cost in the UK?

On average, the pressure washing cost for a small driveway is £50, whereas for larger jobs, for example – a 50m² patio, you can expect to pay around £150.

Jet washing prices are calculated, depending on the size of the area, and below we’ll help you with the exact way of how to measure it to get the right calculations.

We charge £3 per square metre with a minimum charge of £50 for 20 sq.m. This means that any surface smaller than 20 sq.m. will be charged £50.

Note that there is no minimum charge when your driveway washing service is combined with gardening. If you book some of our gardening services, be it garden clearance or lawn mowing, we charge £3 per square meter, no matter how small the area is.

We can clean any external hard surface:

  • Paved areas;
  • Concrete areas;
  • Patios made of natural stone, limestone, slabs;
  • Driveways;
  • Brick surfaces, including walls up to 2 metres;
  • Garden paths made of stone, terracotta, bricks, granite, or marble;
  • Wooden and composite deckings;
  • Fences – all type of fence panels;
  • Garden furniture;
  • Balconies – if there is drainage.

How to measure the area and estimate your jet washing cost?

To find the square footage, measure the length and width of the area in metres and multiply the two numbers together. A laser distance measure works best, but you can use measure tape if you don’t have one. Once you calculate the area in square metres, multiply the number by whatever the price per square metre is.

Here’s an example:

Let’s say your driveway is 10 meters in length and 5 meters in width. The square footage of that area is 10 x 5 = 50m². Now, let’s assume the rate for jet washing service is £3 per square meter. When you multiply your square footage by the service rate, you get a total of £150. This is the amount you’ll have to pay.

Surface condition

In addition, factors like the condition of your driveway or patio may also play a role in the price formation. An area that is badly affected by algae or full of weedlings, or a wall covered in hard-to-remove graffiti, may cost a bit more to wash, of course.

It’s always a good choice to have a professional visit your property. That way they can see the site and job at hand and this way, evaluate the workload more correctly.

Garden features and furniture

Generally, pressure washing prices are per square. That makes it easier to estimate the cost of jet washing a said surface, regardless of its size. Things may get a bit more complicated when you add an irregularly shaped hard-surface garden feature or more delicate garden furniture. Worry not, however, as your service provider will still come up with a fair quote, based on the approximate size of your non-regular shaped patio or the time that would take them to pressure wash your garden table and chairs.

Why hire a professional to take care of your outdoor surfaces?

Pressure washing comes with its specifics and techniques, and professionals spend a lot of time learning the trade. Different surfaces require a different kind of approach. Sometimes, too much pressure directed in the wrong way can completely damage the surface of your decking, fence or garden furniture. DIY pressure washing with chemicals can be dangerous to you and your family and may not bring the results you expect.

That’s where Fantastic Services steps in.

Pressure washing professionals will not strip away layers of your exteriors, exposing them to weathering, that’s for sure. On the contrary, they know how to pressure wash different types of patios, be it natural stone or limestone. They know the exact pressure needed and where and how the jet spray should be directed to, and won’t resort to using any kind of chemicals during the cleaning process.

Takeaways

  • Driveway cleaning improves your home’s curb appeal as it can help you clean all sorts of contaminants, such as bird droppings, paint, mould and algae.
  • Pressure washing can also help prevent accidents, such as slips and falls by making the surfaces non-slippery, and repairs, as certain materials like brick may deteriorate if left unwashed over time
  • A poor DIY pressure washing job can damage a surface and lead to repairs. This is an important aspect when you consider whether a professional service is worth the money.
  • Jet washing prices examples – expect to pay around 50£ for a small driveway, and 120£ for a 50m² patio. The larger the area is, the higher the price gets.
