Then this post is for you!

Spring cleaning checklist

Let’s start with the basics:

Spring cleaning basics

No spring cleaning guide is complete without these tasks. These are all activities you should perform in every room around the house.

  • Dust and wash all baseboards, doors, window sills, and walls.
  • Wash all windows.
  • Dust any light fixtures, sockets, plugs, and lampshades.
  • Replace any burnt lightbulbs, as well as the batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • Remove any cobwebs.
  • Dust air vents.
  • Clean your vacuum and its filter.
  • Update your first aid kits.
  • Replace any fire extinguishers if needed.
  • Vacuum and mop hard floors.

If you have window screens as well, you’ll want to clean them in every part of the house where you’re using one. Simply remove them and scrub both sides with a sponge and soapy, warm water. Use a scrub brush to remove any grime that can’t be removed with a sponge and you should be all set.

Note: If you don’t want to use any hard chemicals while cleaning, you can switch to a combo of vinegar and baking soda. We recommend them as cleaning agents, because they are tough on stains, while also acting as a deodoriser and disinfectant. Perfect for any room of the house.

Kitchen spring cleaning checklist

This kitchen spring cleaning checklist will help you sanitise and organise your cooking area beyond reproach. So, grab your cleaning gloves and your mop bucket and let’s get to it!

We want to make sure the kitchen remains functional and clean, so start with the small things, like throwing away any rubbish and dated food products and then start moving up to the larger appliances and areas that need your attention.

  • Clean and organise all drawers
  • Clean and organise the pantry
  • Wash all cookware, dishes, and utensils
  • Clean your tables and chairs
  • Wash any tablecloths
  • Wipe the sink and clean the drain
  • Vacuum behind appliances
  • Wipe the backsplash
  • Clean any hard to reach areas

Bathroom spring cleaning checklist

It is important to include your bathroom in your spring cleaning list. Unfortunately, we often overlook it, and this makes for the perfect opportunity for mould, limescale and bacteria to take over.

We often dread doing the bathroom, because it often means removing old layers of limescale. Thankfully, more acidic commercial cleaners or a mixture of strong vinegar and lemon juice can dissolve it easily. Just be careful of using anything too abrasive, as it can damage the chrome underneath the limescale.

  • Unclog and clean your drains
  • Clean all cabinets, shelves, and other furniture
  • Organise your counters and cabinets
  • Scrub the grout
  • Vacuum and mop floor tiles
  • Clean the showerheads
  • Discard any old makeup, medicine, and other cosmetics

If you’re looking to deep-clean your bathroom, check out or bathroom cleaning checklist! We’ll go over the exact tools you need and give you some advice on how to remove some of the toughest stains within the bathroom, so be sure to use it if you need more advice!

Hallway/stairs

The corridors are another place that is often forgotten when you’re tidying your home. So, when you get around to your spring cleaning chores, make sure you take care of it as well.

  • Wipe and dust the treads, risers, balustrades, and handrails
  • Vacuum any doormats

Living room

The living room is one of the key areas of any home. It’s where the whole family gathers or where guests are entertained. That’s why it’s important to keep it in great shape. Add it to your spring cleaning checklist.

  • Dust and clean any mirrors, picture frames, and other decorative items
  • Vacuum and clean all upholstery
  • Dust and clean all drawers, shelves, cabinets and other furniture
  • Wash any cushions and blankets
  • Vacuum and clean your carpets

As it is often the most used room, it can get dirty very quickly, especially if you have a large family. In order to keep it clean, you can enforce some rules, like not wearing shoes within the living room, or making sure everything goes back to its proper place after it’s done being used. This ensures that the living room stays cleaner for longer and much easier to clean once Spring comes round again!

Bedroom

The next stop in our room by room cleaning checklist is the bedroom. Our place of rest is crucial not only to our health but our mind and general wellbeing, too. So, keeping it clean and tidy is vital.

  • Wash all beddings
  • Wash any pillows and cushions
  • Dust and clean all drawers, shelves, cabinets and other furniture
  • Dust and clean any mirrors, picture frames, and other decorative items
  • Vacuum and clean the carpets
  • Organise your wardrobe

And while you’re at it, why not declutter your storage closet, too?

Outdoors

Keeping the outside of your home presentable is just as important as keeping the inside clean and tidy. So, add it to your spring cleaning to-do list.

  • Sweep the front and back porch
  • Sweep, wash and stain your decking
  • Clean all outside windows you can reach
  • Clean any outdoor furniture
  • Rinse rubbish and recycling bins
  • Vacuum doormats
